About

Born and raised in Mexico City, Ximena Rendón moved to San Francisco in 2007 to study at the Academy of Art University, where she earned both a BFA and an MFA in Painting. Her highly realistic, often figurative works explore themes of mortality and the subconscious, blurring the boundary between perception and dreamscape. Through her still lifes, Rendón engages in a dialogue with classical and contemporary art history, blending the traditional European vanitas genre with the rich symbolic customs of Mexican Día de los Muertos altars.
